Mission Statement

Many often ask the question, what is wrong with the Youth today? They have no “purpose” they have no direction, they do not want what was once wanted and needed to walk in Christianity, as in back in the day.
This is a new day, a new time, and a different generation with different issues than that of yesteryear. The Youth of today just want GOD! We want to experience His presence, His glory, and the anointing He is ready to pour out.
 
There is a generation that we are responsible for. To go out into the vineyard and connect them to the vine. The Youth In The City’s mission is to reclaim the youth, connecting with them on both natural and spiritual levels, and changing how society views us. Our motto, Taking Back This Generation; focuses on building bridges, not walls, and reaching all youth, not just those in the Los Angeles area.
 
Our purpose is to go out and proclaim to a generation there is but one that can deliver, there is but one that can take you to the next level, there is but one that can mend brokenness; and His name is JESUS! It is our purpose to introduce JESUS to a generation that was not brought up in Sunday School, YPWW, Friday Night Services and Sunday worship services. The youth of today are faced with so much more than the day of our parents and grandparents. We come up against bullying, peer pressure, trafficking, all types of violence and so much more. Our generation was unable to “play outside until the street lights come on.” But know this, we are NOT a forgotten generation. We come to bring awareness to a generation that wants more but don’t know how to go after the things of God.

Societal Views

As Christians we are to actively contribute to society, individuals are encouraged to embody principles of love, service, and compassion, thereby reflecting the character of God. This is exemplified through actions such as assisting the impoverished, caring for the sick, and advocating for justice. The significance of aiding those in need is particularly highlighted in James 2:14-17, which underscores that such actions are integral to the Christian faith. In Matthew 25:35-40, Jesus articulates that serving the marginalized—those who are hungry, thirsty, unclothed, sick, or imprisoned—is tantamount to serving Him directly. 

 

Galatians 5:13-14 further encourages Christians to leverage their freedom in Christ to serve one another selflessly. Ephesians 2:10 emphasizes that Christians are "God's handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do." Additionally, James 1:27 defines "pure and undefiled religion" as the act of visiting orphans and widows in their distress. As Christians, it is imperative to live out one's faith by actively demonstrating love, compassion, and service to others. This commitment not only fulfills a spiritual obligation but also contributes to the betterment of society as a whole.
